Andy Monk is an artist who currently lives in Kingston, NY. Born in Manhattan and raised in an apartment building, Andy hated the city as a young child, longing instead for the suburban house with the yard and the white picket fence that seemed so appealing on TV. Although he grew out of this desire and developed a deep appreciation for the city, Andy did eventually leave it behind in his early thirties, promptly moving into a house that looks like the cookie cutter icon of a Monopoly house. These two experiences -at seemingly opposite ends of the spectrum- of what a home is have become a primary source of inspiration in his work.
